The North Devon and Cornwall coast with its fanatstic scenery is within easy reach alongh the Atlantic Highway from Clovelly to Wadebridge. Bude is a mere 6 miles and Widemouth, Boscastle, Tintagel, Trebarwith Strand and many other excellent places are within less than an hours drive.

The Cornwall coastal path rises up on to the cliffs and then falls into quiet valleys, along the Atlantic coast, giving excellent views over the sandy beaches and rocks with surf lapping the edges. Surfers are usually out in all weathers at Bude and Widemouth. Boscastle, has recovered from the flooding, much has been rebuilt and its harbour which was undamaged is well worth a visit. Walk up to Queen Victoria's head on the North side or the harbour on the South. It can be combined with a trip to King Arthur's romantic castle close to Tintagel. For the brave, a drive to Millook with its twisted rock cliffs, stony beach and 1 in 3 hills in and out, is an interesting challenge. Your N Cornwall parking ticket works at all their car parks. |

Bude is built on a headland between the two sandy beaches, Crooklets and Summerleaze. The latter has the entrance to the canal which is being restored so why not take a row along its tranquil waters which once took sand inland to fertilise the fields? A walk to the breakwater and barrel rock can be taken except near high tide. There are public tennis courts and a links golf course. You may decide to spend the day basking on the golden sands at Widemouth or Sandymouth (NT car park); to spend the day walking on Bodmin moor, fishing or cycling at Tamar Lakes or maybe visit one of the grand houses such as Lanhydrock (NT) near Bodmin.
